Your Ibiza Guide

(Sponsored by Sol Bahia Suites)

I’m sure by now you have heard of Ibiza. A hedonist's paradise island in the Mediterranean Sea. You have probably heard about the lively nightlife scene, home to some of Europe’s biggest and best nightclubs, where worldwide DJ’s flock for the summer season. But did you know Ibiza is also home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe? It is also home to quiet picturesque villages, yoga retreats, rugged coastline and crystal waters.

In this blog I will tell you all about this magical island. The best towns and villages to stay / visit to meet your needs, accommodation recommendations, things to do, places to eat & drink, and of course - where to party.

Ibiza towns, resorts and villages: where to stay?

  1. Ibiza Town: this is the capital of the island, and the largest city. This beautiful old town has a UNESCO World Heritage Listed fortress. It is lined with typical pretty Spanish streets, independent boutique shops and world-class restaurants. It also has a buzzing nightlife, including where the famous Pacha nightclub is located. An all rounder spot, and whether you stay here or somewhere else, it’s a must visit on your Ibiza itinerary.

  2. Playa d'en Bossa: the most popular resort in Ibiza. Think endless chill out space on the longest stretch of beach on the island. A great choice for party goers since the superclubs Ushuaïa & Hï are here. There are also many gorgeous beach clubs, bars and restaurants in this area. A top location for those who want to be immersed in the clubbing scene.

  3. San Antonio: famous for its incredible sunsets set in an open bay, this resort is one of my favourite areas. The atmosphere is always alive, and there is a lovely seafront promenade where you can watch the yachts. There are many party venues here including O Beach, Pikes, Eden and many smaller venues like the iconic Mambos - a spot you cannot miss for the sunset.

  4. Portinax: Located on the north side of the island, Portinax is a much more peaceful and quiet town, perfect for a relaxing getaway and to enjoy its many nearby coves and beaches. Lots of water activities are run here, and it is more family friendly. It still offers a lovely evening scene with plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy.

  5. Cala Llonga: Home to the most beautiful sandy bay, this smaller resort is very picturesque. It is surrounded by lush green hills and has many activities, shops and restaurants on offer. Additionally you are only a stone's throw away from Ibiza Town here, which is a huge plus!

Other areas worth mentioning / visiting include:

  • Santa Eulalia

  • Es Cana

  • Puerto de San Miguel

  • Cala Vadella

  • Cala Tarida

  • Santa Gertrudis

  • San Juan

We also cannot forget Ibiza’s little sister: Formentera. Formentera is the smallest of the Balearics and is just south of Ibiza. You can take a 35 minute ferry from Ibiza Town and arrive in Mediterranean paradise. The most incredible crystal clear waters and white sand beaches, it is the perfect place for a day boat trip. You can also stay on the island!

My top accommodation recommendation: Sol Bahia Suites.

I’m writing this on my third visit to Ibiza, so it’s about time I recommended some beautiful accommodation to you. I would recommend you to stay at Sol Bahia Suites, in San Antonio. Sol Bahia boasts stunning views over the San Antonio harbour, and offers guests luxury apartments and beachfront suites with sea views and the most perfect location to catch the legendary Ibiza sunsets. Here you are far enough away from the nightlife so you can enjoy peaceful days and a good night's sleep, but only a short walk for it you want to enjoy the thumping bar & restaurant scene in San Antonio.

Sol Bahia luxury apartment bedroom view

Why do I like Sol Bahia? It pairs luxury apartments & service with a family run, friendly atmosphere. The reception desk is 24 hours, so you don’t need to worry about what time you get in - for check in or after a night out. The pool area is stunning and overlooks the sea where you can watch the boats all day. The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, always asking how you are and if there is anything they can do for you. The beach is just 150m away, and the town centre is just a 10-15 minute walk, making it easily accessible to all the popular restaurants and bars. Our apartment was beautiful and had everything we could possibly need. If you’re like us and try to save a few €€ on eating out, the apartments have a fully equipped kitchen and dining area. They also have large balconies with beautiful views of the surrounding areas.

  • Take a day boat trip to Formentera (or catch the ferry from Ibiza town)

  • Watch the sunset over Es Vedra - a magical spot on the South East coast where you can see a sunset view of the majestic Es Vedra rock. People gather there every night by walking down a deserted forest path until reaching cliffside. Here people settle with drinks and watch the sun go down.

  • Cala Saladeta beach

  • Cala Bassa beach

  • Cala Compte beach

  • Cala Escondida beach

  • Cala Tarida beach

  • Cala d'Hort beach and viewpoint

  • La Paloma

Places to party

Pikes Sunday party at Freddie’s

  • Ushuaïa - Experience the #1 outdoor club in Ibiza with the most famous stage in the island—the club that opens its doors first while the sun is still up. Dance, be amazed by the spectacle, feel the energy of Ushuaïa Ibiza, and enjoy the performances of the world’s best DJs

  • - Hï Ibiza official DJ Mag #1 Club In The World 2022. An evolutionary nightclub experience. With an ambitious vision devoted to uniting crowds through quality music and positive energy, they even have a DJ in the toilet.

  • Pacha - The world's most iconic nightclub where heritage, music and glamour combine. An electric mix of authenticity, spontaneity, fun and kudos. Since 1973 Pacha has been the inherent pioneer of Ibiza's dance and cultural movement, where the cherries and the island of freedom go hand in hand. This is one of the best clubs I have ever step foot in - the entertainment is second to none. I would recommend you check out the Masquerade on Saturdays with Pete Tong & Claptone, it will be a night you will never forget.

  • Amnesia - Amnesia hosts a different proposal every night. A carefully curated selection of parties covering a wide array of musical genres, always big name DJs and one of the islands biggest superclubs.

  • Pikes - Pikes is an iconic Ibizan institution, steeped in rock n roll history and brimming with personality. The 25-room haven in the San Antonio hills features bespoke rooms and suites set around the sprawling fairytale gardens and the famous aquamarine pool which was the location for Whams Club Tropicana video. Founded in the 1970’s by the late Tony Pike, for decades Pikes has welcomed regular guests including the likes of Grace Jones, Tony Curtis, Spandau Ballet, Bon Jovi, George Michael and Freddie Mercury. My favourite spot on the island, away from the crowds and dripping in true Ibiza culture. If you want the true magical Ibiza feeling, Pikes is where you will find it.

  • O Beach - pool / day parties - Complete with stunning ocean views on the west coast of Ibiza in San Antonio, O Beach is dedicated to creating a unique and lavish day party experience. Each day hosts a different vibe, but all complete with world class entertainment & performers, fun DJs and a pool party.

  • DC-10 - DC10 is already etched firmly into the history books of dance music culture, the small farmhouse at the end of the airport runway in Ibiza has become one of the best known clubbing destinations on the planet, principally due to the hedonistic and no holds barred afterhour sessions of Monday daytime party Circo Loco

  • Cova Santa - Located in the heart of Ibiza, between the green mountains of San José, and built around a natural cave sculpted by water during thousands of years, Cova Santa is the soul of the island. A place in which nature, art, music and gastronomy come together to create a unique multi sensory experience.

  • Eden - Major protagonist of the electronic scene renowned in all the corners of the globe, EDEN belongs to the exclusive circuit of the greatest clubs in Ibiza. Its name, summer nights and parties are now part of the Ibiza night myth. Hosts big event nights such as Defected, Hospitality and Louder.

  • Boat parties - visit Ibiza Spotlight for listings

You can find a full calendar list of all the parties on the island by visiting Ibiza Spotlight - I would really recommend to check this calendar out so you can see which DJ’s are playing / what parties are on that match your music taste!
